Brush up on your skills with a unique art break in Llandudno

Artists are being offered the chance to brush up on their skills with a unique Art Break organised by The Imperial Hotel in Llandudno in partnership with Oriel Mostyn, the leading gallery for contemporary art in Wales.

This exclusive break, on 24 to 26 June, has been designed for all levels of experience to help amateur artists develop their skills, work with new materials and try new subject matter. Two specialist full day workshops with expert tuition and support have been organised with two of North Wales’ best artists, Amy Sterly who will run a Printing Workshop and Glyn Price a Painting and Drawing Workshop.

Amy Sterly lives in Wales but is originally from Chicago. She received a degree in Fine Art from Rockford College, Illinois in 1986 and moved to the UK in 1989, where she has exhibited widely throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States as a printmaker and sculptor. In 2006 Amy received an Arts Council Projects Grant to research printmakers in Wales and in 2009, a ‘Chance to Create’ Grant to set up Mobile Printing Workshops. Since then she has been teaching printmaking workshops throughout Wales and the borders at galleries, schools and community groups. Her Printing Workshop will demonstrate the technique of drypoint, the materials needed and the press. Artists will learn to use the tools, ink and print while also experimenting with different techniques and work on drawings and design work in order to have a number of finished prints by the end of the day.

Glyn Price will be running the Landscape Painting workshop. Glyn enjoys the challenge of drawing and painting the North Wales landscape as well as producing some still life and abstract work. His work is simply his own interpretation using strong colours and different shapes which creates interesting compositions. Glyn is a great believer in art giving people the freedom to explore and express themselves in different ways, giving them the confidence and time to reflect and plan their future.

The Imperial Hotel, winner of the prestigious AA Hotel of the Year Wales 2010-11, is Llandudno’s finest Four Star hotel offering elegance, excellence and affordable luxury with this unique Art Break from only £275.00 per person which includes two nights at the hotel with bed, breakfast and dinner in the award winning a la carte restaurant on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 June and the two exclusive workshops on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June inclusive of all materials.
